DMW Motorsports 2004 News

Aug. 28  2004
Milwaukee Mile,  West Allis, WI.

Here we had 52 cars total, with 20 leaving early, with the series allowing 32 to start in the 40 lap feature on Saturday afternoon. Rain played its part and caused delays and schedule changes. Qualifing for the top 20 in MidAm points was washed out. These cars were then guarenteed a spot in the main event. There are good and bad points to this. Since Ron was 16th in points, coming into this event,  he was placed deep in the field for the start. A fast paced race, with one caution,  Ron drove the red Heil Grand Prix finished a very respectable 12th. No marks, no problems, a good learning experience.

Aug. 21-22  2004
Road America,  Elkhart Lake,  WI.

Again, for the third year in a row, we have had excellent weather for this event. A total of 42 cars and trucks registered in the MidAm division. When it got down to qualifing on Sat., 31 took the green. Ron, driving the #07 Grand Prix, qualified 9th in the cars or 14th overall. That is pretty good, considering the level of competion. The 40 mile race was Sunday morning. Right off the bat, a brake problem developed. But that won't stop this team, after quick repairs, Ron was ready to go. With the questionable brakes and 160 MPH speeds; Ron was smart to drive cautiously. We finished with a 13th place in the cars, or 20th overall.

August 7, 2004
Madison Int. Speedway, Oregon, WI.

This was our first time at M.I.S. with a MidAmerican Stock Car. Practice went very well. A special thanks to the Wood Brothers, for their help with coaching Ron on corner entry. A full field of MidAm cars again had 3 heat races. Ron, driving the Red #07 did very well and finished 2nd in his heat, but had nothing for the leader. Feature went not as well. Qualifing placed us well to the rear of the line up. The middle 20 cars were all within 1/2 second of each other. Very competative and not much passing.  Ron finished around 17th.

July 10, 2004
Wisconsin Int. Raceway,  Kaukauna, WI.

Our team had its best run ever this evening. There was a full field of cars. Some were on the trailer after not making the show through the last chance race.  Ron driving the #07 Red Heil Sponsored Gran Prix had no problem as he qualified in the top 10. The feature went just great. Ron drove a conservative race; and after the strange turn of events in post inspection; the #07 placed 6th.

June 26,2004
141 Speedway, Francis Creek, WI.

This is a tight little quarter mile paved track. Ron raced the #07 Port A John car for this event. This is the white 2004 Monte Carlo. A warm evneing, we hot lapped and qualified good. The heat race saw a 3rd place finish. Ron had a starting spot for the feature near the rear of the field. There is always alot of action on this track; and by lap 6, Ron was part of an crash which eliminated our car for the evening.

This was the first MidAm race where the #07 had a DNF caused by a crash.

June 12, 2004
Wisconsin Int. Raceway,  Kaukauna, WI.

No rain today  -  Let's go racing. The red Heil Grand Prix hot lapped excellent, and Ron had laid down some fast laps. The #07 red car qualified 6th. Our best effort at this track. No heat races here. This was part of the Red, White, and Blue Series race. The feature found Ron mid pack, a tough place to start a race. This is a very fast track. Speeds are in the 120 MPH area.

The Heil #07 car finished the feature with an 11th place finish.

May 7, 2004
Hawkeye Downs, Cedar Rapids. IA.

This was a 5 hour drive from our shop.  It was a overcast, damp evening. The track is at a fairground and is a premere facility.  Excellent lighting, informed announcer, and a smooth track.

The Heil #07 car was brought here for its first race.  A new car, a new track for us; all went very good.

Ron drove a great race. A 40 lap feature on this big 1/2 mile; Ron was in the top 3 for the first 20 laps.  After some bump and tap racing, the #07 Gran Prix finished the event in 7th.

All in all, a good start to the season. This Heil car can run up front.
